About Ancoats and Clayton
Ancoats and Clayton is one of the 32 wards which form the City of Manchester Council. It is a diverse area stretching from the Clayton Vale through into the Northern Quarter, covering parts or all of a number of difference communities, from Ancoats, Clayton, Miles Platting, Sportcity, the Northern Quarter and Piccadilly Village.
As well as a large geographic expanse, the ward also covers a diverse range of communities. It covers
- the Clayton Vale, an outstanding urban parkland
- Clayton town, including the historic Clayton Hall
- the National Cycling Centre
- Phillips Park, a great park
- part of the Sportcity Development, particularly the Indoor Tennis Centre
- the urban estates of Ancoats and Miles Platting, including their fabulous Cotton Mills
- the Northern Quarter, with its niche business community.
I will be fighting to support all of these communities in the next local elections in Manchester. Living locally in the heart of the ward, I know that Ancoats and Clayton ward is a great place to live. However, I know that that it is being let down in the Council by Labour and needs a real alternative to choose.
For those who would like to see a map of the ward, or to check if they live in it, then you can visit the Election Maps site.
